Vienna's Wiener Stadthalle stands as Austria's largest indoor arena, designed by architect Roland Rainer and built between 1953 and 1958. The original structure expanded significantly over the decades, with major additions in 1974, 1994 and 2006. Today, the main hall accommodates up to approximately 16,083 people and serves as the centrepiece of a sprawling multipurpose complex. The venue now comprises six distinct spaces that can operate independently or be combined for larger events: two gymnasiums, an ice rink, the main arena, a smaller multipurpose hall, an auditorium with performance stage, and a swimming pool. This flexibility supports everything from international concerts and exhibitions to trade fairs, conferences, theatre productions, sports competitions and television broadcasts. The Stadthalle attracts roughly a million visitors annually across more than 350 events, cementing its role as one of Vienna's most versatile entertainment destinations.
