Home to England's national football team and some of English football's most prestigious fixtures, Wembley Stadium opened in 2007 on the site of its demolished predecessor. The ground holds 90,000 seats, making it the largest stadium in the UK and second-largest in Europe. Designed by Populous and Foster and Partners, the venue is defined by its iconic 134-metre Wembley Arch, which supports over 75% of the roof load and serves as a landmark across London. The stadium is owned by the Football Association, whose headquarters are based there. Beyond England internationals and the FA Cup Final, Wembley hosts the FA Community Shield, League Cup final, FA Cup semi-finals, and playoff matches across English football's divisions. As a UEFA category four stadium, it has staged major European competitions including the 2011 and 2013 UEFA Champions League Finals, eight games at UEFA Euro 2020, and will host the 2024 UEFA Champions League Final. The venue also welcomes rugby league's Challenge Cup final, music concerts, and previously hosted NFL London Games. While the stadium does not have a full retractable roof, partial roof structures over the east and west ends can open to allow sunlight and aid pitch growth. Since 2014, the stadium has operated under a sponsorship agreement with EE Limited and is officially branded as Wembley Stadium connected by EE.
