Home to Sunderland AFC, the Stadium of Light stands on the site of a former colliery in the North East. The all-seater ground takes its name from the coal mining heritage that once defined the region, with a Davy lamp monument at the entrance paying tribute to that industrial past. Capable of holding 49,000 spectators, it ranks among England's largest football stadiums and has been expanded since its original 42,000-seat capacity. Beyond club fixtures, the venue has hosted England internationals across multiple age groups and competitions, as well as major touring acts. A diverse roster of performers has taken to the stage here, whilst the stadium also provides conference and banqueting facilities alongside a club shop and dedicated bar for supporters. The ground's straightforward layout was designed with future expansion in mind, allowing for potential capacity increases in years to come.
