Tucked in the southwest of Shanghai within Minhang District, Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena occupies an 80-hectare expanse in Maqiao Town. The venue's defining feature is its distinctive steel retractable roof, which opens and closes via eight sliding petal-shaped segments that unfold in a spiral motion—taking eight minutes to complete—and evoke Shanghai's official city flower, the magnolia. This engineering allows the arena to transition seamlessly between indoor and outdoor play, accommodating 13,779 spectators. Originally purpose-built to host the ATP World Tour Finals from 2005 to 2008, the stadium held the distinction of being Asia's largest tennis venue until Beijing's Olympic Green Tennis Centre was constructed. The arena gained fresh prominence in 2009 when it became the home of the Shanghai Masters, an ATP Tour Masters 1000 tournament. Beyond tennis, the facility has also hosted international basketball, including games during a Chinese tour by NBA teams.
