Home to PSV Eindhoven since 1913, Philips Stadion stands as the Netherlands' third-largest football ground, with capacity for 35,119 spectators. Originally built in 1910 as a sports facility for Philips employees, the venue began hosting competitive football when the Philips Elftal took to the pitch in 1911. When PSV succeeded that team two years later, they established a connection to the stadium that has endured ever since. The stadium's modern form took shape through decades of expansion. Wooden stands appeared in 1916, followed by gradual enclosure of the field. Major reconstructions during the 1970s and 1990s transformed it into a covered, two-tiered venue with substantial commercial facilities, with the four corners completed in 2002 to achieve its present scale. UEFA awarded it a four-star rating, reflecting its quality as a venue. Beyond domestic football, Philips Stadion has hosted Netherlands international matches from 1971 onwards, three Euro 2000 group stage fixtures, and the 2006 UEFA Cup Final. The ground occasionally opens its doors to music concerts, extending its appeal beyond the football calendar.
