Opened in 1919, Pebble Beach Golf Links sits on California's Monterey Peninsula, where fairways roll down to meet Carmel Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The course's dramatic clifftop setting has earned it a reputation as one of the world's most beautiful, and in 2001 it became the first public course to top Golf Digest's ranking of America's best. Playing here comes at a premium—greens fees rank among the highest globally. The course anchors a larger resort community managed by Pebble Beach Company, which also runs two sister golf courses, The Links at Spanish Bay and Spyglass Hill, plus three hotels and a spa. Golf's major championships have found their way here regularly: six U.S. Opens, one PGA Championship, and the 1988 season-ending Tour Championship (now called the Tour Championship). In 2023, the course hosted its first women's major when it staged the U.S. Women's Open. Today, Pebble Beach remains a fixture on the professional calendar, hosting annual PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions events, and its iconic holes have been recreated in countless golf video games.
