O2 Arena Venue Guide

The O2 sprawls across Greenwich Peninsula in South East London as a multi-purpose entertainment destination. At its heart sits a distinctive dome-shaped structure—once the Millennium Dome, built to house a millennium exhibition—which now contains the indoor O2 Arena alongside cinemas, music venues, restaurants, bars, and exhibition spaces. Visitors can also take a guided tour to the top of the dome itself. Getting there is straightforward. North Greenwich tube station on the Jubilee line serves the site, with bus routes and Thames Clippers river boat services also providing access. The river service connects The O2 directly to central London, offering both regular commuter options and a dedicated O2 Express service. The venue underwent complete redevelopment following the closure of the original millennium exhibition. Though the iconic dome shell was retained, its interior and the surrounding areas were rebuilt from scratch. The district took its current name in 2005, marking the shift from exhibition space to leisure destination. Today it operates under a long-term lease managed by AEG, with naming rights held by O2 through 2027.
