The race is currently held at the Circuit de Catalunya, a short drive from the city of Barcelona. Barcelona is the capital of the Catalunya region of Spain. This makes it perfectly located for some summer sun.

Honda is the most successful manufacturer at the Catalan motorcycle Grand Prix, that is because they have 10 wins in MotoGP and 500cc. Unusually, the second most successful manufacturer at the Catalan race is Italian Manufacturers Aprilia. However, despite its success, none of Aprilia’s wins have come in the top category. Unsurprisingly. Spain is the most successful nation with a combined 28 wins. Italy is the second most successful nation with 23 wins.  Valentino Rossi is the most successful rider at the Catalan event with 7 wins in the top category. Spaniards Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez, and Dani Pedrosa, are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively.
