It has been on the Grand Prix calendar since 1914, making it possibly the oldest event on the Grand Prix calendar. Phillip Island has been the home of the Australian MotoGP since the late 1980’s. Before this time it was held primarily at Eastern Creek, but it has also been held at Bathurst and a variety of other circuits. Phillip Island is located 2 hours drive from Melbourne, making it a fantastic location for a long holiday weekend.

Honda and Yamaha are the most successful manufacturers at the Australian motorcycle Grand Prix. Between the them they share 50 race wins across all 3 categories. Ducati is the only other manufacturer to win at the top category. Australian Casey Stoner is the most successful rider at the top category with 6 wins. Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez have 5 wins and 3 wins respectively.
